Today’s blogpost is dedicated to Liam Treadwell, who in 2009 rode Mon Mome to Grand National victory, and personally gave me the most euphoric high I have ever experienced on a racecourse after my several month “hunch” became an actually reality on that fateful Saturday afternoon.
Photo montages of Liam aboard Mon Mome adorn my wall and take pride of place in my home. It will always be a Grand National victory dear to my heart and I will never forget Liam’s part in it.
It deeply saddens me that Liam was unable to reach his own levels of euphoria ever again and I implore anybody that ever feels that things are getting too much for them, or are feeling overwhelmed, to not be afraid to reach out and to try and let people in. There are sympathetic listeners nearer to you than what you think and nobody will judge you.
Whatever you’re going through, call the Samaritans free any time, from any phone, on 116 123.

Rain is the order of the day at Sandown today as it continually comes down by the bucket load. I hope you’ve been looking for a few sploshers this morning as a contingency plan?
It appears the weather combined by local train disruptions are going to have a detrimental effect on the crowd which is a real shame.
Today’s Sandown fancies:
12.10 Sand- Classical Art (win).

Bellenos (Harry Skelton, 9/2) & Bygones Sovereign (T Scudamore, 7/1) provided the blog with two winners at Ascot yesterday afternoon with Joshua Lane (B J Geraghty, 8/1) just going down a neck in the last to deny a brilliant three-timer.
It’s an early start for the Tommy Whittle Chase Day at Haydock this afternoon and hopefully I can bring you a little bit of festive cheer with my naps.

If you wish to take another look at Saturday’s Betfair Chase at Haydock the link to the video is above. I’ve been doing just that this morning and on my second look I’ve realised Cue Card’s jumping was a lot better than I initially thought whilst watching live. That’s probably because I was watching others rather more closely.
I’m deliberately swerving Kempton today in favour of Ludlow purely because of the short priced favourites running there and the fact that I can’t see many of them getting turned over.
Today’s Ludlow fancies:
12.45 Lud- Toowoomba (e/w).
1.15 Lud- Princely Player (win).
1.45 Lud- Sand Artist & Audacious Plan (e/w).

3.20 Lud- Frontier Vic (win).
3.50 Lud- Bobble Boru (e/w).
Ven! No diagram needed in November.
Long may this run of form continue as one of my favourite trainer/jockey combinations had an emphatic win at Cheltenham yesterday. Lower Hope Dandy (A Coleman, 16/1) stayed handy in the front two runners all the way to storm away from the chasing pack by 16 lengths. Whisper (B J Geraghty, 9/4 ) wasn’t careless at all when taking the opening race.
Today’s fancies are at Cheltenham:
2.00 Chelt- Doyly Carte (e/w).
2.35 Chelt- Tara Rose (win).
3.10 Chelt- Baby Shine & Kaffie (e/w).

5.25 Chelt- Koolala & Bobble Boru (e/w).
6.00 Chelt- El Dancer & Arthur’s Pass (e/w).
Hoping to add to the coffers today! 😉
The double header of jumps cards yesterday provided winners at both venues. At Leicester- Module (P J Brennan, 1-4 fav) & Arthur’s Pass (P J Brennan, 13-8 fav) both won whilst over at Ludlow Rydalis (A Coleman, 9-1 Dead-Heat) & Heronshaw (R Thornton, 11-2 ) both won.
Special Robbon should have also won at Leicester however Liam Treadwell got slightly muddled up.
After the race the Stewards gave Liam a 12 day ban and he will be sidelined from February 13 to 24 inclusive.
