It’s pretty rare that I miss Haydock and The Tommy Whittle Chase but I’ve been instructed that I’m needed around Mulldog Towers today so my racing is going to be a TV event this afternoon. Not quite the same but at least I’ll get to see the odd race.
Bellenos (Harry Skelton, 9/2) & Bygones Sovereign (T Scudamore, 7/1) provided the blog with two winners at Ascot yesterday afternoon with Joshua Lane (B J Geraghty, 8/1) just going down a neck in the last to deny a brilliant three-timer.
It’s an early start for the Tommy Whittle Chase Day at Haydock this afternoon and hopefully I can bring you a little bit of festive cheer with my naps.
I can’t for the life of me see this Haydock meeting completing today if the rain continues pelting down as it is but they say it’s still on so I may as well go ahead with my blog post.
You may be surprised to read this but I actually had the last four winners at Ascot yesterday afternoon. Admittedly not great prices but four consecutive winners nevertheless. Puffin Billy (B J Geraghty, 4-9 fav), Simonsig (B J Geraghty, 2-9 fav), Farmer Matt (P J Brennan, 9-4 joint-fav) & Captain Cutter (B J Geraghty, 11-4 2nd-fav). I also had a very narrow miss on the placepot (see my other blog).
Today’s Haydock fancies:
12.10 Hay- Dormouse & Notarfbad (e/w).
12.40 Hay- Majala (win).
1.10 Hay- Little Glenshee & Alder Mairi (e/w).
1.45 Hay- Hollow Tree & Mwaleshi (e/w).
2.15 Hay- Rich Lord & Mumbles Head (e/w).
2.50 Hay- Kudu Country (e/w).
3.25 Hay- South Leinster & Merrydown (e/w).
