Doncaster Do’s & Don’ts

March has arrived and the countdown is on to the Cheltenham Festival. If you didn’t see my extra blog post last evening I am once again running a Daily Telegraph Cheltenham Fantasy League over the festival and the details can be found on this link: Mulldogs Fantasy Cheltenham League

A sponsor gladly jumped forward to put up £100 (doubled if Hurricane Fly wins) but I would just like to ask you in a quick straw poll what you would consider a fair split of the prize fund?

I’ve noticed some races at Cheltenham barely get a mention. One such race is the PLI Novices Handicap Chase. “The what?” I hear you say. Exactly, it was totally off the radar for me until earlier when I spotted Gordon Elliot’s Carlito Brigante is entered. Odds of 8/1 in from 12/1 for a confirmed Cheltenham specialist ain’t bad!  PLI Novices Handicap Chase

Catterick- A Bridge Too Far ?

If you didn’t catch the Cheltenham Q&A session last night with guest star Rory Delargy from Timeform you can watch it on the Youtube link above. At the conclusion of the broadcast there were plenty of long shot fancies flying around for the County Hurdle. Here’s the current betting: County Hurdle Handicap betting.

Don’t forget you can also catch up on any new Cheltenham stories on Cheltenham Talk.

Cheltenham Talk ran an interesting article on Sir Des Champs yesterday: Course form key to Sir Des Champs Gold Cup hopes.

Plump wallet for Cheltenham

Those Bangles were totally spot on with their 80’s classic song weren’t they! If ever there was a manic Monday it’s been one all morning for me.

So have you been studying any more Cheltenham races today with just fifteen sleeps to go? As you may have gathered I’ve been endorsing Paddy Power for antepost wagers on the lead up to the Festival as they often run “specials” and “consolations” that go down well with a bruised and battered punter who needs all the help he/she can get.

Paddy Power

The Ryanair Chase once again looks like being a real trappy affair and  Menorah & For Non Stop are my current eachway flutters after both runners saw plenty of money over the weekend.

Click here to visit Paddy Power’s antepost Ryanair Chase page.

On the subject of Cheltenham on what some people describe as the “silly season” (i.e Hundreds of fancies flying around) we have another Q&A broadcast on the JP Festival show this evening.

JPFestival TV Cheltenham Preview Broadcast.

Tonight’s @JPFestival TV Broadcast is a Cheltenham Festival questions special – get your questions in for the panel before 7pm via the Facebook Group http://www.facebook.com/jpfestival or Twitter.

Watch at 7pm on JP’s website: http://www.jpfestival.com

Kempton’s Kool Kids ft Mully’s Harlem Shake

It’s certainly a day to wrap up from the icy wind today and you’ll definitely need your bobble hat on if you’re at Kempton. Perhaps you’re at Fairyhouse for the  At The Races Bobbyjo Chase (Grade 2) though? With a whole host of Grand National runners competing it may be prudent to place your antepost before 2.35 pm?  Grand National Betting

Have you heard about the new craze sweeping the web? Move over Gangam Style, it’s all about the Harlem Shake now. As you know I’ve been known to celebrate a winner at home in various ways so why not do so whilst doing the Harlem Shake? 😀

(NSFW)

Today’s fancies are at Kempton:

2.05 Kemp- Irish Saint (win).

2.40 Kemp- Molotof (win).

Sedgefield Sedatives

Two winners for the blog at Doncaster yesterday with Otto The Great (B J Geraghty, 5/2 2nd-fav) & Minella Forfitness (B J Geraghty, 9/4 fav). It was almost three winners when Wilde Blue Yonder (R Thornton, 16/1) lost by a head in the last race bumper. Jetnova (W Hutchinson, 20/1) brought in some more eachway joy.

How good are you at hunting down value? Well it’s not so often you see a market with 16/1 joint favourites but the Kim Muir Handicap Chase is currently priced up in such a way. Surely the favourite on the day will go off 10/1 or slightly less but who will it be? Kim Muir Challenge Cup Betting

Today’s fancies are at Sedgefield:

2.10 Sedge- Doyly Carte (win).

2.40 Sedge- Stanley Bridge & Bocamix (e/w).

3.10 Sedge- Call Me Mulligan & Crafti Bookie (e/w).

3.40 Sedge- Umadachar (e/w).

4.10 Sedge- Master Red (win).

4.40 Sedge- Sam Patch & Domoly (e/w).

5.10 Sedge- On Gossamer Wings (e/w).

Do you do ¼ the odds?

Do you do ¼ the odds?

Be as crafty as those bookies today! 😉

Doncaster Dons

Apologies for the technical difficulties yesterday. The post I “published” at 11.30 a.m yesterday morning unexpectedly turned itself into a “draft” and nobody said a word until about 4.00 p.m. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me on WordPress. The trick is is to wait until the actual page publishes and don’t go opening any other windows until it does.

Do any of the following four runners interest you? To Win Any Race At The Festival  This could be a bit of a saving market if you fancy First Lieutenant and you aren’t sure which race.

Today’s fancy are at Doncaster:

1.45 Donc- Otto The Great (win).

2.20 Donc- Swynmor (win).

2.50 Donc- Aurora’s Encore & Corkage (e/w).

3.25 Donc- Minella Forfitness (win).

3.55 Donc- Cocacobana & Jetnova (e/w).

4.30 Donc- Rumbury Grey (win).

5.05 Donc- Wilde Blue Yonder & Kris Spin (e/w).

Auroras-Encore

What do you do for an encore? 😉
