I feel a little bit guilty today as shortly after I became aware Divers was a non-runner in the Paddy Power Gold Cup yesterday I switched my third and final bet on that race to Al Ferof. This was based primarily on that fact that hours earlier I had included “Al” in my shop entry for the William Hill “The Jumps” ten to follow competition. After-timing? – no, plain lucky? -yes! 😀
Far West (R Walsh, 15-8 2nd-fav) set off blog proceedings yesterday with a first race winner and later Bradley (P J Brennan, 9-2 fav) & Viking Blond (S Twiston-Davies, 8-1 ) ran absolute blinders but sadly just couldn’t get the measure of 25/1 outsider Monbeg Dude.
So we had a second set of amendments by the BHA to the whip rules yesterday and still we’re not quite there yet with the prospect of further more potential flashpoints over the winter. Does “Stewards Discretion” send shivers up your spine too? Well, the proof will be in the pudding for a second time as the amended rules (part deux) are implemented immediately today. Watch this space!………again 😉
Taunton was turning into a nightmare again for me yesterday with seconditus right up until the last race when Decimus (Nick Scholfield, 15-2 ) came home first with a spirited late run. That was exactly the same scenario as the day before and at this rate I’m going to get the new reputation of being a latecomer (make your own jokes!).
