I’m back and refreshed from a week long holiday in the Lake District and raring to go once again. Worryingly only one person checked in to see if I was ok when the blog disappeared for a week. Well, at least it wasn’t none 😀
There was an extremely rare event last night- yes, believe it or not there were free beers in my local as several people heeded my text message and backed both of these horses each-way and one of them even managed to land the forecast as well.
The race was established in 1833 but today will see the very last “Pitman’s Derby” run on the turf. It’s a sad day for traditionalists but on the flip side it’s a great day for futurists. Only time will tell what will become of Newcastle Racecourse.
Two saucy little winners for the blog on Wednesday at Worcester when AbleDeputy (A P McCoy, 5/6 fav) & Hannah Just Hannah (Mr J Banks, 7/2 jf) both won. In fact it was almost four winners on the afternoon as Hollow Penny (R Johnson, 4/1) & Macarthur (Paul Moloney, 25/1) both marginally went down by ½ length.
Its another blogging first for me today as I haven’t actually been able to watch this particular fixture in full for about the last fifteen years as I’m usually traveling home from the holidays. However I’ve changed my dates this year so I’m looking forward to some Newcastle action today.
Today’s Newcastle fancies:
1.35 Newc- Short N Sweet (win).
2.05 Newc- Jack Luey & Grissom (e/w).
2.40 Newc- Body And Soul (e/w).
3.15 Newc- Farlow & Cosmic Chatter (e/w).
3.50 Newc- Dark Crusader & Totalize (e/w).
4.25 Newc- Amaze (e/w).
5.00 Newc- Erroneous (e/w).
There is some added onus on three of these selections today as G1 Racing Trends have agreed to give any winnings to the New Beginnings Horse Charity. I really hope I can put some extra coffers in their pot.
