Huntingdon (Sunday)

Around 30,000 took up the free racing at Aintree initiative yesterday and what a great day it was. Bitterly cold in the morning followed by the low sun in the afternoon- a day of stark contrasts.

The Becher Chase itself is becoming a veterans benevolent race on recent trends. Old favourites that don’t quite make it in the Grand National making one last almighty stand and sending their legions of fans home happy. Long may it continue, it’s great to witness.

Bincombe (T J O’Brien, 4/1) & Sam Winner (Nick Scholfield, 3/1) had Mull It Over readers running to the payout kiosks yesterday.

Today’s Huntingdon fancies:

12.35 Hunt- Thoresby & Yasir (e/w).

1.05 Hunt- Mickie (win).

1.35 Hunt- Cloonacool (e/w).

2.05 Hunt- Wishfull Thinking (e/w).

2.35 Hunt- Aqalim (e/w).

3.05 Hunt- Out Of The Mist (e/w).

3.35 Hunt- Ballybough Andy (e/w).

Crisis? What Crisis?

Aintree (Old Roan Meeting) Saturday

Is a win just Wishfull Thinking?

(Saturday re-blog).

I will be like a pig in muck on Saturday when I return to my beloved Aintree for the two day Old Roan meeting. It’s really sad that’s it’s going to be the last one in it’s current format but times change and so do the decision makers so who am I to argue?

Lots of Twitter folks appear to be heading in the direction of Merseyside on Saturday so it will be nice to meet up with some of the new faces as well as the old stalwarts. Perhaps Twitter name stickers should be made compulsory to identify people? All that distinguishes me is my bald head!

Saturday’s Aintree fancies:

2.00 Aint- Hawk High & Broughton (e/w).

2.30 Aint- Roberto Pegasus & Saphir River (e/w).

3.00 Aint- Wishfull Thinking & Rolling Aces (e/w).

3.40 Aint- Lie Forrit (win).

4.15 Aint- Jaunty Journey & Parish Business (e/w).

4.50 Aint- Timesremembered (win).

5.25 Aint- Days Of Heaven (win).

Do it for Angie! 😉

Exeter Executives

So the clue was in the opening paragraph yesterday along with a supporting picture as My Tent Or Yours absolutely demolished the field in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury. Did you get your antepost 8/1 for the Supreme Novices’ prior to the off? I’m afraid as I mentioned yesterday that that boat has well and truly sailed now and here are the revised odds for the race: Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Betting

Chatterbox (B J Geraghty, 5/4 fav), Wishfull Thinking (R Johnson, 4/1) & Unioniste (R Walsh, 4/5 fav) all won for the blog at Newbury whilst Araldur (R Thornton, 16/1) & Swing Bowler (T J Murphy, 8/1) both placed. Those of you who listened to Friday evening’s JP Festival TV broadcast would have heard me suggest Our Conor (B J Cooper, 10/3) & Wishfull Thinking (R Johnson, 4/1) horses to be with on Saturday afternoon.

Today’s fancies are at Exeter:

2.00 Ex- Kilmurvy (e/w).

2.30 Ex- Puffin Billy (win).

3.00 Ex- Hawkes Point (e/w).

3.30 Ex- Bally Legend & Simply Wings (e/w).

4.00 Ex- Act Of Kalanisi (win).

4.30 Ex- Couldhavehaditall (e/w).

5.00 Ex- The Liquidator (win).

Requested by a reader yesterday 😉

Cheltenham Festival 2011 (Day 3)

Mully’s eyes are smiling 😀  Happy St Patrick’s Day!

I’ve had a few successful tipping days in the past, but never have I  managed to string together an opening four race salvo at a major festival like the one yesterday. Admittedly I had a fair handful of picks, but in those first four races the four winners were my four principle picks.

I was actually shaking at one point as one of my bets was a 5p e/w Lucky 15 (last of the big spenders hey!) on Chicago Grey (5/1), Boston’s Angel (16/1), Sizing Europe (10/1) running on to Lightning Strike which I took @40/1 in the morning. The semi-retirement dream didn’t quite come off, but those returns, plus a 20p cut of the Placepot, a few singles and a Coral shop prize of £20 for the best daily tipster made Wednesday 16th March an unforgettable betting day.

I’m actually going into today’s selections with a little bit of trepidation. I know for sure I’ve gained a few extra followers on the back of yesterday and I don’t want anyone to think I’m the Messiah-“I’m just a very naughty boy” 😉 .As I signified yesterday-small stakes, don’t go mad and don’t sell your Granny for a bet. If I’m poop today, well that’s the gamble.

Today’s Cheltenham picks are:

1.30 Chelt- Wishfull Thinking & Loosen My Load (e/w).

2.05 Chelt- Sivota, Duke Of Lucca & Mobaasher (e/w).

2.40 Chelt- Kalahari King & Roberto Goldback (e/w).

3.20 Chelt- Big Bucks (win), & small e/w’s for places- Power Station & Rigour Back Bob.

4.00 Chelt- Quartz De Thaix, Edgbriar & Bible Lord (e/w).

4.40 Chelt- Pomme Tiepy, Far More Serious & Deal Done (e/w).

5.15 Chelt- Lorna Fowler to win the charity race.

Crisis, what crisis!?!  😉

Folkestone Finites

Now some of you might have taken to laying my selections over the last few days as winners have been hard to find in the bottomless ground they are experiencing at most tracks. I told you last week the wheel can fall off very easily but I’m hoping it’s just a slow puncture whilst we have these testing conditions 😀

Naturally, you should be halving your stakes on “uncertain stamina worry” days like these so here we go with some tentative fancies at Folkestone today:

1.40 Folk- Catholic Hill & Doctored (e/w).

2.10 Folk- Vics World (win).

2.40 Folk- Mr Muddle (win).

3.10 Folk- Pete The Feat (win).

3.40 Folk- Pacco (e/w).

4.10 Folk- Varkala & Madame Allsorts (e/w).

Wake up, wake up! 😉
