York & The Curragh (Sun)

Illusionist was a 33/1 winner for the blog yesterday, my 888sport weekend piece and was my selection in the Racing Post Naps table, but disappointingly it went largely unnoticed. Too much Saturday racing? Probably yes, but at least my personal Betfair balance swelled rather than my head. After all, you’re only as good as your last winner right? 😀

Today’s York fancies:

3.30 York – Kihavah (WIN)

The Adrian Keatley-trained Kihavah won with plenty of real estate to spare at the Dante meeting and can follow up here.

Ryan Sexton once again takes a valuable 5lbs off his back and the five-year-old is a big player.

Danger: El Picador

3.45 Curragh- Agartha (E/W)

Joseph O’Brien’s Agartha looks overpriced at 14-1 in our online betting market given her solid juvenile form of last season, including when finishing second in the Group 1 Moyglare Stakes. She really should be on the premises once again.

James Ferguson’s Mise En Scene has form that ties in closely with Cachet and Prosperous Voyage and is worth including in your forecasts and tricasts.

4.00 York – Beautiful Sunrise (WIN)

Beautiful Smile was no match for Miami Girl at Newmarket but I doubt whether there is anything as fast as that horse in this five furlong sprint – not even Walbank?

4.20 Curragh – Lustown Baba (E/W)

Johnny Murtagh’s Lustown Baba is a Curragh regular and has also won over course and distance.

It would come as quite a surprise if the grey mare isn’t there or thereabouts again here on home turf.

Danger: Blairmayne

4.35 York – Beluga Gold (NAP)

Yet to finish out of the first two in his last five runs, John Quinn’s Beluga Gold looks like one of the good things on York’s Sunday Series schedule.

We envisage another big run is on the cards and make him our 888sport NAP of the day.

Danger: Azure Blue

5.05 York – La Trinidad (E/W)

Course and distance scorer La Trinidad can be given another chance here at York after failing to shine last time. The five-year-old can get back on track again over this one mile distance.

Lion Tower looked like holding on for the win at the last meeting here and should be in the frame again for the Grant Tuer stable.

5.35 York – Gulliver (E/W)

Gulliver usually finishes strongly at the business end of these handicap sprints and he can give his supporters a sporting each-way chance in this contest.

Record breaking Dakota Gold cannot be ignored either should he take up his entry.

6.05 York – Super Superjack (WIN)

Milton Harris has a good staying horse on his hands here and Jack Mitchell can bring him home to capture the silverware.

Grant Tuer’s Emaraty Hero should be a place banker too.

6.40 York – Poet’s Magic (E/W)

Those looking for a good filly to back in the York finale should click on Poet’s Magic in our horse racing betting.

Alternatives to our pick include Divine Magic and Celtic Empress.
