The Weekend Whisper (Fri 20th March)

weekendwhisper TWW currently stands at -7.65 pts

There were gremlins in the works last night as this post ended up being stuck as a draft and not posting. This morning I discovered the poor little devil was stuck in my dashboard. Oh the joys of technology!

A second place for Raz De Maree (advised at 16/1) in the Midlands Grand National saved last weekend from being a total disaster points wise so that minus figure isn’t quite double figures yet. Next stop zero I hope.

Today’s thoughts…

If the front running Sharney Sike has recovered from last months Eider Chase exertions then there is no reason why the chestnut gelding cannot run another big race. Kelso is usually a pretty difficult course to peg back front runners and I have been impressed with Coltherd’s horse all season. If you’re really adventurous then definitely include Harry The Viking in your forecast permutation.

Later on in the afternoon the George Bewley trained Hunters Belt is worth an each-way interest. This consistent veteran literally does stay longer than the mother-in-law and two previous career wins at Kelso show his liking for this course. Don’t worry if you don’t see him involved in the race early because he finishes off his races strongly. Son Jonathon takes off a useful 5lb off his back.

TWW advises:

0.5 pt e/w Sharney Sike 2.15 Kelso (10/1 Bet365).

0.5 pt e/w Hunters Belt 4.35 Kelso (14/1 888sport).

*prices correct as of 11.35 am Saturday.

  1. You struck gold. I knew it would not take you long. I had to bring a big bag to the bookies to take home my winnings. Thanks Mully.
