There was a glimmer hope for all whisperers out there last weekend as one of the two selections Pink Tara (Mr C Whillans, 15/2) was placed. Advised here at 9/1 the night before Pink Tara ran a promising race in the closing bumper at Wetherby but could never get near the Micky Hammond trained Sherry.
Despite going off at 33/1 and finishing sixth I was reasonably impressed by Vent Nivernais’ British debut at Warwick and the horse has gone into the tracker for another day.
With uncertainty about Haydock getting the green light in the morning I have really struggled to find something of each-way value at any other fixture. I have finally opted for a small on Cedre Bleu in the Bet365 Chase at Ascot.
This horse has been contesting some decent races this season. His fourth in the Rowland Meyrick last time out wasn’t a bad showing and his second in the Grand Sefton was excellent, and if you go back to May his second to Anquetta was good too.
Sam Waley-Cohen takes off three pounds and I can see this horse plugging on late with hopefully a spirited charge right at the end.
0.5 pt e/w Cedre Bleu 3.35 Ascot (16/1 generally).
