Flying high: back to back wins for Golden Kite in the Connacht National

Teenager Johnny Burke registered his first pro success when Golden Kite completed back-to-back wins in the Tote-sponsored Connacht National in Roscommon last night.

The display of horse and rider was described as “poetry in motion, until the last” by winning trainer Adrian Maguire who has now trained Golden Kite to win four nationals – the Connacht National twice plus a Munster National and a Midlands National.

Maguire added: “The Galway Plate is the obvious race for him, a real summer ground horse, but, unfortunately, the ground in Galway is always too well watered.” (from the Irish Mirror).

Today’s Roscommon fancies:

5.15 Ros- Reflet Ambre (e/w).

5.45 Ros- Alton Bay (win).

6.15 Ros- Poetic Lord (e/w).

6.45 Ros- Catchin Time & Honourable Lady (e/w).

7.15 Ros- Easter Hunt & Sandymount Duke (e/w).

7.45 Ros- Takeyourcapoff & Won In The Dark (e/w).

8.15 Ros- Boss Croaker & Polish Partisan (e/w).
