Social media is such a strange beast and the people who use it even stranger but sometimes it does have me chuckling to myself. For what reason am I laughing this morning? Well, it’s the subject of “unfollowers”. I hold my hand up and admit I am guilty of checking my follower count everyday. Curiosity gets the better of me so I have to check just who exactly it was who waved me goodbye in the middle of the night and naturally they get a replicated “unfollow” back when I find out. How very 40-year-old of me 😀
I’ve been doing this computer and blogging lark long enough now not to cry over losing a disciple but I do like to analyze just who leaves the fold. In recent times it regularly appears to be either an individual who runs a paid subscription tipping service who drops me like a sack a spuds after I tweet about a winner (or two) or funnily enough Manchester United fans are fairly prominent unfollowers even though I don’t tweet anything about football. Perhaps their psyche is that they want to follow someone who wins ALL the time? Any amateur psychologists amongst my readership have any theories?

As the curtain comes down on the 2012/13 National Hunt season I’d just like to congratulate Lucy Alexander on winning the Conditional Jockeys title. It has been an absolute pleasure following Lucy’s season and her comeback from injury made the title win even more remarkable. This girl gives 100% in every single race ride and always rides out to the line- often netting her an unlikely win. A total credit to her sport I hope she goes from strength to strength. I for one will certainly continue to put my hard earned on her mounts.
Today’s feature race is the Bet365 Gold Cup. Do you remember twenty years ago when Topsham Bay was awarded the race in the Stewards Room? Are you still seething?
Here are my Sandown fancies today:
1.30 Sand- Ptit Zig & McVicar (e/w).

4.25 Sand- Royal Skies (e/w).

Can Mr Moss build on his Grimthorpe second?
Sadly no winners on day two of the Perth Festival however there were plenty knocking on the door, especially in the Hunter Chase were I had both second and third.

No sooner had I wrote a blog post all about winning runs coming to an end when the Gods of Fate conspired for the latest run to do just that as a total blank was drawn at Newton Abbot yesterday.
So let’s look at that run from April 12th through to April 22nd:
- Earcomesthedream (Jack Doyle, 22/1) & Top Totti (R Johnson, 5/2 joint-fav).
- Tick Tocker (Paul O’Brien, 10/1).
- Forgotten Gold (P J Brennan, Evens fav) & Be My Deputy (Denis O’Regan, 7/2 joint-fav).
- Lilac Lace (A Carter, 9/1).
- Upton Mead (Mr C P Shoemark, 7/1)
- Lower Hope Dandy (A Coleman, 16/1) & Whisper (B J Geraghty, 9/4 ).
- Doyly Carte (J M Maguire, 13/2) & Tara Rose (S Twiston-Davies, 9/4 fav).
- Seymour Eric (Mr I Popham, 3/1) & Bocciani (T Scudamore, 6/1).
- Conquisto (T Scudamore, 5/1).
- Ocarina (Mr C Alexander, 16/1).
So when a winning run comes to an end what do you do? Well naturally you get straight back on your horse! 😀
Today’s fancies are at Perth:
The Cockney Mackem (win). Non-runner
3.30 Perth- Goldtrek & Tipsy Dara (e/w).
4.05 Perth- Beeves (win).

Can anyone stop the Pigeon today? 😉
All the focus today will be on day one of the Punchestown Festival however as a betting medium this festival doesn’t get my full attention at all and I only dip into the odd race. The reason being is that I find it’s a bit of a “boil over” meeting on the whole. Many horses entered at Punchestown have had a long old season and non more so than some of the British raiders we send over (*Sprinter Sacre excluded on this occasion). If you’re betting at Punchestown this week proceed with caution as it’s not as straightforward as it seems.
Ocarina (Mr C Alexander, 16/1) was the sole winner for the blog at Hexham yesterday but what a fine priced winner it was. Did you know that is now ten consecutive days of winners posted on here? Once the run comes to an end which it will inevitably do I shall do some housekeeping and catalog the list of winners.
Today’s fancies are at Newton Abbot:
1.30 Newt- Massena & Who’s Jeff (e/w).
2.00 Newt- Rocky Bender (e/w).
2.30 Newt- Empire Levant (win).
3.00 Newt- Residence and Spa (e/w).
3.30 Newt- Pacha Doudairies (e/w).
4.05 Newt- Call Carlo (e/w).
4.35 Newt- Blinding Lights & Last Minute Notice (e/w).
I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite 😉
Apologies for no blog post yesterday. I was somewhat late back from a morning match and by the time I’d got myself sorted back at home it was turning 2pm which was a little too late to study the form.
Just one winner for the blog on Saturday afternoon when Conquisto (T Scudamore, 5/1) won by 6 lengths.
Today’s fancies are at Hexham:
2.30 Hex- Vosges & Gavroche Gaugain (e/w).

Six consecutive days of winners turned into seven yesterday afternoon at Ayr when Seymour Eric (Mr I Popham, 3/1) & Bocciani (T Scudamore, 6/1) did the business for the blog and my birthday purse.
It’s the Scottish Grand National today and although I love Aurora’s Encore for many different reasons I do not think he’ll be emulating the great Red Rum by doing an Aintree/Ayr double. I’d love it to happen but I just can’t see it.
Today’s fancies are at Ayr:
1.30 Ayr- Reaping The Reward (e/w).
2.05 Ayr- Tap Night (win).
2.40 Ayr- Sametegal (e/w).
3.15 Ayr- Conquisto (e/w).
3.50 Ayr- Monsieur Cadou, Fill The Power & Relax (e/w).
4.25 Ayr- Saphir River & Wyse Hill Teabags (e/w).

5.35 Ayr- Glingerburn (e/w).
Hope you find a wee winner or two today! 😉
Firstly many thanks to everyone for your kind messages on both social media and through the post. I am also totally made up with getting a birthday mention in the Racing Post too. It really means a lot to me 😀
The good run of form extended into a sixth consecutive day yesterday when Doyly Carte (J M Maguire, 13/2) & Tara Rose (S Twiston-Davies, 9/4 fav) won the opening to races at Cheltenham.
Today’s fancies are at Ayr:
