So my love affair with the Chester Cup continues as I successfully managed the winner of the race again for a third year in a row. If you use the search facility on the front page of this blog and look up “Mamlook, Overturn, Ile De Re” you’ll find it’s no word of a lie 😀
My fascination with this two mile two furlong conundrum started in 1991 when Star Player won under Frankie Dettori. My personal hall of fame (i.e I backed them) for this race is: 1991 Star Player, 1992 Welshman, 1995 Top Cees, 1997 Top Cees, 2008 Bulwark, 2010 Mamlook, 2011 Overturn, 2012 Ile De Re.
