Monthly Archives: April 2012

Kempton Kemosabe

Just one winner on the blog yesterday at Ludlow but it also turned into a good forecast race for me too. Cootehill (S Twiston-Davies, 7-2 joint-2nd-fav)  beat Cadoudalas (T Scudamore, 20-1 ) paying a CSF of £60.18 & Exacta £49.80.

It’s hard to believe April is at an end today. Another Grand National meeting under my belt and it’s time to save up again for next year. Sadly, I don’t get to go to racing as much over summer as I’m mad busy with commitments to teams etc, however I do plan to attend at least one fixture each month until the N.H gets properly under way again later in the autumn.

Today’s fancies are at Kempton:

2.15 Kemp- Karate & Fitz (e/w).

2.45 Kemp- Sabre Tooth (e/w).

3.15 Kemp- Bryer & Eagle Power (e/w).

3.45 Kemp- Litmus (e/w).

4.15 Kemp- Danehill Dante (e/w).

4.45 Kemp- Beauchamp Castle (e/w).

5.15 Kemp- Intercept (e/w).

5.45 Kemp- Cat’s Eyes (e/w).

2012 Grand National winner Neptune Collonges

…and so the 2013 quest begins! 😉

Lud on your side

Two great winners here on Saturday but I’m not so sure if any of you had them? Gibb River (Mr Jeremiah Mcgrath, 11-1 ) Colombian (William Buick, 10-3 ) did the job at Sandown.

Today’s fancies are at Ludlow:

2.10 Lud- Aviso (e/w).

2.45 Lud- Westlin Winds (e/w).

3.15 Lud- Little Fritz (win).

3.50 Lud- Seventh Sky (e/w).

4.25 Lud- Cadoudalas & Cootehill (e/w).

5.00 Lud- Island Life (win).

5.30 Lud- Tiger Rag & Snowball (e/w).

Have some luck on your side today as well as love! 😉

Whitbread Gold Cup (aka Bet 365)

I was just studying earlier this morning my record in this race and it was somewhat better 20-25 years ago than in recent times 😀

1987 Lean Ar Aghaidh, 1989 Brown Windsor, 1990 Mr Frisk, 1998 Call It a Day, 2000 Beau & 2010 Church Island are the only winners I can recall backing. The Church Island result won me a few tipster competitions that day so I was mightily pleased.

There were two winners for the blog yesterday at Perth when Keeneland (Henry Brooke, 9-4) & Rossini’s Dancer (P Buchanan, 9-4 fav) did the business.

Today’s fancies are for the mixed card at Sandown:

2.00 Sand- One Lucky Lady & Sonoran Sands (e/w).

2.30 Sand- Gibb River & Sircozy (e/w).

2.35 Sand- Somersby (win).

3.10 Sand- Viking Blond & Tullamore Dew (e/w).

3.45 Sand- Colombian (e/w).

4.15 Sand- Stipulate (win).

4.50 Sand- Tullius (e/w).

5.20 Sand- European Dream & Whitby Jet (e/w).

Lean Ar Aghaidh ridden by Guy Landau

25 years of Whitbread flutters! 😉

Perth Patter

It’s day three of my stinking cold/flu today and despite feeling ok-ish this morning I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus now. Last night I was sweating like a fat guy in a cake shop 😀

Papamoa (Miss L Alexander, 9-2 2nd-fav) was a superb last gasp winner yesterday after Lucy used all her strength and patience to get the horse up on the line from a real unlikely position. I actually had a NagMe alert for Den of Iniquity (T J O’Brien, 16-1 ) which I entered into the system a few seasons ago. When I saw the form figures I stupidly gave it a miss. That’ll teach me! 😀

Today’s fancies are at Perth:

2.00 Perth- Keeneland (e/w).

2.35 Perth- Captain Americo & Vamizi (e/w).

3.10 Perth- Winstone (win).

3.45 Perth- Red Harbour (win).

4.20 Perth- Rossini’s Dancer (e/w).

4.50 Perth- Jaunty Journey (win).

Taking tea on Papamoa Beach

One or two lumps?!? 😉

Perth Ponderables

Just one solitary winner yesterday at Perth when Astracad (S Twiston-Davies, 40-85 fav) won after almost pulling himself up at one point.

You’ll be relieved to know that I do feel slightly better today with my cold and the Lemsips are working wonders. I’m not sure I’ll ever be the same again though. I may have to pass up on the washing up and stuff until further notice.

Today’s fancies are at Perth:

2.00 Perth- Jet Master (win).

2.30 Perth- Moleskin (win).

3.00 Perth- Charlie Bucket & Papamoa (e/w).

3.30 Perth- Degas Art (e/w).

4.05 Perth- Commercial Express (e/w).

4.40 Perth- Trustan Times (e/w).

Sue Bradburne-retiring today after 24yrs.

Fairytale last winner?!? 😉

Perth potions to beat the flu

I’m absolutely full of a streaming cold today. I have to keep wiping my nose so that it doesn’t drip into the keyboard as I’m writing this blog post. There’s nothing worse than a vice like grip on your sinuses to really spoil your day. Still it could be worse, it could be that debilitating version of a cold commonly known as MAN FLU 😀

Upthemsteps (D C Costello, 5-2 joint-fav) was the sole winner at Towcester yesterday here on the blog.

Today’s fancies are at Perth:

2.00 Perth- Blazin White Face (e/w).

2.30 Perth- Tour Des Champs (e/w).

3.00 Perth- Astracad (win).

3.30 Perth- Stormion & The Corby Glenn (e/w).

4.05 Perth- Blenheim Brook (e/w).

4.40 Perth- Kings Chorister (e/w).

Not too many wet hankies today I hope! 😉

Teatime Towcester

As you know I’m a big NH hunt fan but the Punchestown Festival has really failed to grab my attention again this year. Don’t get me wrong there is the odd quality field but mixed in there are plenty of races that you can hardly call “Festival” races. They’re more “novelty” races to pad out the meeting in my opinion. Taking into account the amount of boil overs you get at this stage in the season then it’s pretty much of a swerve meeting for punting purposes for me.

Bar for the odd placed selection I drew a blank yesterday at a rain soaked Hexham.

Today’s fancies are at Towcester:

5.20 Towc- Devil’s River (e/w).

5.50 Towc- W Six Times (e/w).

6.20 Towc- Upthemsteps (e/w).

6.50 Towc- Sendinpost (e/w).

7.25 Towc- Bleuvito (e/w).

7.55 Towc- Spider Palm & Magic Moon (e/w).

It's not cheap sending post.

Hoping these don’t get licked today! 😉

Hexham Hexing

Mr Moss (Paul Moloney, 7-2 ) & Tarn Hows (A O’Keeffe, 9-2 ) sent blog followers to the payout counter yesterday at Stratford.

I guess you’re all celebrating St George’s Day today at work as still we don’t have a national holiday. I wonder if we’ll ever see a public holiday for St George’s Day in our lifetime?

Today’s Georgian fancies are at Hexham:

2.30 Hex- Sam Patch & Panthers Run (e/w).

3.00 Hex- Sammy Spiderman (e/w).

3.30 Hex- Heart Of Dubai (win).

4.00 Hex- Storm Surge & Tipsy Indian (e/w).

4.30 Hex- Crafti Bookie (e/w).

5.00 Hex- Belon Gale (win).

5.30 Hex- Green Flag (win).

Sammy says hello!

Hoping to spin a few webs today! 😉

Stratford Stratification

Raya Star (R Thornton, 15-2 ) who was one of my strong Cheltenham fancies but ducked bounced back to form for a nice blog result yesterday at Ayr.

Merigo caused me personal heartache as at the last minute I thought I better not desert my old favourite Aurora’s Encore so I backed it eachway at 25/1. After the Sunnyhill Boy result one week earlier I was a little gutted to say the least.

Today’s fancies are at Stratford:

2.00 Strat- Thanks For Coming (e/w).

2.30 Strat- Mr Moss (e/w).

3.00 Strat- Pigeon Island (e/w).

3.30 Strat- Countess Comet & Tweedledrum (e/w).

4.00 Strat- King Cyrus (e/w).

4.30 Strat- Tarn Hows & My Sister (e/w).

5.00 Strat- Midnight Macarena (e/w).

I am not trying to seduce you! 😉

Scottish Nationalists

It’s one week after the Aintree Grand National took place and our attentions turn north of the border to the 2012 Scottish equivalent today.

Yesterday’s Fontwell forage produced just one winner in the shape of Oncle Kid (Nick Scholfield, 17-2 ).

Today’s fancies are at Ayr:

1.40 Ayr- Bene Lad & Enfant Du Lune (e/w).

2.15 Ayr- Lidar (win).

2.50 Ayr- Raya Star (e/w).

3.25 Ayr- Fruity O’Rooney, Mac Aeda & Galaxy Rock (e/w).

4.00 Ayr- Cockney Trucker (e/w).

4.35 Ayr- Oh Crick & Quicuyo (e/w).

5.10 Ayr- Super Ally (e/w).

5.45 Ayr- On Broadway & Master Malt (e/w).

Benny lad!

Hoping to cross some roads today with these tips! 😉
