Folkestone Folkadelics

I didn’t really have time as such to follow the racing yesterday as I went to a funeral but a quick glance at the results this morning didn’t show any familiar names.

My venture onto Betdaq is fairly interesting thus far. I quite like how you can place unit stakes of 50p. This is quite handy when you really don’t want to place the obligatory £2 on an outsider like you have to do on Betfair. That’s definitely a positive for me as I like my overpriced outsiders.

Today’s fancies are at Folkestone:

2.10 Folk- Twyford & Marcus Antonius (e/w).

2.45 Folk- Kindly Note & Sudden Light (e/w).

3.15 Folk- Maximix (e/w).

3.45 Folk- Lupanar (e/w).

4.15 Folk- Upham Atom (e/w).

4.45 Folk- Start Royal (win).

5.15 Folk- According To Kev & Grafty Girl (e/w).

Twyford

Hoping none of these go down the pan today! ;-)

Catterick Catamaran

Well Betfair won’t budge on their seven day settlement rule on the cancelled Winter Sports market despite official confirmation from FIS that the next event is the 14th March. Despite three email exchanges with the help desk, from three different people and with three lots of bad grammar they will not concede the fact that they DO interpret their own rules in any way they deem fit when it personally suits them. It’s very funny how they have bendy rules on when they decide to refund football bets though? The three day rule is hardly ever implemented but they wouldn’t acknowledge that fact with me.

It maybe a minuscule dent in Betfair’s profits but being as they intend to hold my money for seven days I have decided to deposit into Betdaq this morning and will use the purple site for the next seven days. This will in hindsight be more of a detriment to myself as I will have some commission erosion on Betfair and the prices may be worse on Betdaq but at least I will feel better for standing up :D

Today’s fancies are at Catterick:

2.20 Catt- Waltham Abbey & Front Rank (e/w).

2.50 Catt- Dane Cottage (e/w).

3.20 Catt- Storm Surge (e/w).

3.50 Catt- Raktiman (e/w).

4.20 Catt- Stopped Out (win).

4.50 Catt- Carmela Maria (e/w).

5.20 Catt- Fame Again & I’m A Gangster (e/w).

B versus B

Purple rain, purple rain! ;-)

Betfair-where did our love go?

At one time I was one of Betfair’s greatest advocates and couldn’t sing their praises highly enough. After ten years their customer service department is almost unrecognisable and customer feedback appears to be almost non-existent as nobody takes any of it on board. What happened? Why are loyal customers all too often having  a negative experience?

My own current bugbear with Betfair is the non-settlement and refunding of a market they offered on Women’s World Cup downhill skiing on Saturday morning. The event was cancelled in Bansko, Bulgaria on Saturday morning due to high winds and the official line from the International Ski Federation (FIS) says the event is CANCELLED. Link to FIS website  Despite this official confirmation, as I write this blog as of noon, Monday 27th February the market is still suspended and unsettled. Link to market (may expire)

This is yet another bad customer experience in my eyes. If you send an email you get an automated message that takes days to be answered (if at all). The telephone helpline is premium rate (used to be freephone) and rarely anybody replies through their various social media guises. And don’t get me started on withdrawal times or the new BETA site or I might just explode.

Today’s fancies are at Plumpton:

2.15 Plump- Kings Bayonet (e/w).

2.45 Plump- Hows Business (win).

3.15 Plump- Acosta & Chicharito (e/w).

3.45 Plump- Deep Pockets (e/w).

4.15 Plump- Speed Steed (e/w).

4.45 Plump- She’s Humble (e/w).

5.15 Plump- Hill Forts Gloria & Romney Marsh (e/w).

Don’t you want me no more? ;-)

Towcester Calling

Palawi (Dean Pratt, 10-1 ) was the sole winner on the blog yesterday afternoon but I believe one or two people got prices of 20/1 downwards on Mr Quinn’s charge which was nice work :D

I’ll keep it short and sweet today. Today’s fancies are at Towcester:

2.20 Towc- Shangani (e/w).

2.50 Towc- Clarion Call (e/w).

3.20 Towc- Catawollow & Jerry Lee (e/w).

3.50 Towc- Baltic Pathfinder & Wood Yer (e/w).

4.25 Towc- Cap Falco & Manadam (e/w).

4.55 Towc- Rebel Swing & Fennis Boy (e/w).

5.25 Towc- Pearls Legend & Anywhere (e/w).

Raise your cap to Falco! ;-)

Eider Down

Give us a squeeze

Firstly just to let you know that last night went swimmingly well as we won the charity quiz night with a score of 85/100, ten points clear of our nearest rivals. There was a total of 22 teams in all with six players each so we were rather chuffed :D

No winners to report from yesterday as I didn’t have a single one. Hopefully I’ll do much better at Newcastle today. It doesn’t seem five minutes since we were discussing the controversy surrounding The 2011 Eider Chase and the going conditions that day. I do feel however the incident has left its mark on the race as there aren’t exactly a lot of runners taking part today as in yesteryears.

1.50 Newc- Fill The Power (e/w).

2.20 Newc- My Syntax (e/w).

2.55 Newc- Kent Street & Palawi (e/w).

3.25 Newc- Present M’Lord & Douglas Julian (e/w).

4.00 Newc- Agent Archie (win).

4.35 Newc- Rolecarr (e/w).

5.10 Newc- La Calinda (e/w).

You what?

Hopefully no errors of judgement today! ;-)

Super Sandown

Netherby (Mr Joshua Moore, 7-1 ) kicked off proceedings in good style yesterday at Lingfield Park but after that I could only muster up a few placed horses on the rest of the card.

I’ve set up a Mull It Over Facebook page as of yesterday. I’m not quite sure how this will go as the interest in Facebook seems to be waning these days but we’ll give it a whirl and see what happens. Mull It Over facebook page

Frosty Knickers

On a personal note, tonight I am in attendance at a Charity Quiz night that ITV’s The Chase, chaser Anne Hegerty has kingly agreed to compare.

This afternoon we shall be chasing winners at Sandown:

1.50 Sand- Kadouchski & Egypt Mill Spirit (e/w).

2.25 Sand- Lord Singer (win).

3.00 Sand- Top Of The Range (win).

3.35 Sand- Falcon Island (win).

4.10 Sand- Clowance House & Amirico (e/w).

4.40 Sand- Inga Bird & Balleyvesey (e/w).

5.10 Sand- Drum Valley (win).

Chase Gioberti! ;-)

Lingfield Leaps

Not such a bad afternoon at Doncaster yesterday with one or two non-runners and a Hunter Chaser saving the day. Winterwood (Mr W Kinsey, 4-1 ) won nicely for Mrs Hamilton who appears to have one or two useful types in this sphere. I really thought I was going to be in clover again when Corkage (J Reveley, 12-1 ) &  Chac Du Cadran (T Messenger, 10-1 ) went clear of the field only for cold-list trainer P.J Hobb’s Allthekingshorses to shoot through like a rocket to nab them both.

Today’s fancies are at Lingfield:

1.50 Ling- Netherby (e/w).

2.20 Ling- Di Kaprio (e/w).

2.50 Ling- Fleur De Vassy & Arctic Flow (e/w).

3.20 Ling- Budva (e/w).

3.50 Ling- Pete The Feat (e/w).

4.20 Ling- Owner Occupier & Hershel (e/w).

4.50 Ling- Fire Chief & Prize Poppy (e/w).

I can spot mine out the back...

Hoping today’s fancies aren’t a waste of space! ;-)

Valiant Valsesia

Val, raring to go...

It’s not so often I get excited about a second place but when that place is 100/1, the horse belongs to a Twitter friend, and there is some genuine meaning behind the selection then the result has me getting very jiggy indeed :D

Mr Wilson’s charge was considered a real rag by the bookmakers, rather surprising to a few of us a Val had shown some stern resolution and stamina in similar going conditions in her previous bumpers. I wasn’t letting this stupid price put me off and I backed her 100/1 e/w at Hills and £2 win @ 510/1 on Betfair. As the two joint favourites floundered it looked like Jackson Cage might just do the same at the head of affairs. From three out my heart was pumping in my chest as Valsesia hit a low of 2.5 in-running for a few moments as people thought she might just run the leader down. She couldn’t quite make it but what a valiant effort and she rewarded her followers with a 20/1 place. I was also having further palpitations during the race as I’d also had Jackson Cage, Valsesia, Majorica King, Destroyer Deployed & Volcan Surprise in a 20 bet perm at a unit stake of 25p. What a thrill the race was! :D

But there was more to come after that, Saveiro (F Davis, 9-1 ) which was also my Talking Horses tip won by 8 lengths and Until Winning (Gerald Quinn, 12-1 ) won the last race Taunton bumper.

It’s very easy to get carried away after a day of good results and think your invincible but you’re only as good as your last bet. I know there would have been several characters bleating across the social media airwaves  “Look At Me” with a few of the results I had yesterday but a little bit of modesty and decorum goes a long way and I shall only show off here you’ll be glad to know :D

Today’s fancies are at Doncaster:

1.55 Donc- Blue Destination (e/w).

2.25 Donc- Master Fiddle (e/w).

3.00 Donc- Special Catch (e/w).

3.30 Donc- Auroras Encore & Mark The Book (e/w).

4.05 Donc- Chac Du Cadran & Corkage (e/w).

4.40 Donc- Winterwood (e/w).

5.10 Donc- This Is Me (e/w).

Racing can be an uplifting experience

Hoping it doesn’t go darko at Donny! ;-)

Wetherby Wellies & Taunton Ticklers

As of this morning my Aintree racecard obsession/quest is finally over and I have in my possession every single card from the past twenty (three day) Grand National meetings. I actually did buy the racecard every single day but for some reason or another when I came to collate the whole collection about two years ago I was about five cards missing. The reason for the losses? Well, they were several fold- 1) Card so soggy and damaged it went in the bin on exit 2) Left in a bar after late night revelry 3) Picked up by magpies.

Lot’s of placed horses on the blog at Carlisle yesterday but sadly no winners. With two fairly decent meetings over the jumps today I’ve decided to have a bash at both fixtures in a combo as I have several fancies at both venues. Here are today’s Wetherby & Taunton fancies:

1.40 Weth- Strathaird (e/w).

2.00 Taunt- Dualla Lord (e/w).

2.10 Weth- Soir Destruval & Pena Dorada (e/w).

2.30 Taunt- Gentleman Jimmy (e/w).

2.40 Weth- Ballywatt & Turbolinas (e/w).

3.05 Taunt- Alldunnandusted (e/w).

3.15 Weth- Jaunty Journey & Wolf Moon (e/w).

3.40 Taunt- Devil To Pay (e/w).

3.50 Weth- Majorica King & Valsesia (e/w).

4.15 Taunt- Genstone Trail (e/w).

4.25 Weth- Prince Tam & Saveiro (e/w).

4.45 Taunt- Templer (win).

5.00 Weth- Mist The Boat (e/w).

5.20 Taunt- Until Winning & Unex Degas (e/w).

They double up as sun hats too

Hoping to mark a few cards today! ;-)

Let’s settle down to Carlisle

Apologies for the lateness of this blog post today. I’ve spent the entire morning down at the bank sorting out a mess they’ve somehow made to my verified Paypal account. I do love the blame game you always get, nobody excepts responsibility and everyone points the fingers and says “It’s so-and-so’s fault- not ours” :D

Today’s fancies are at Carlisle. Don’t go blaming me if they don’t do a dickie bird ;-)

2.00 Carl- South Leinster (e/w).

2.30 Carl- Streamtown (win).

3.05 Carl- John Forbes & Knockando (e/w).

3.40 Carl- Vamizi & Victory Gunner (e/w).

4.10 Carl- Domoly & Prosecco (e/w).

4.45 Carl- Diamond Damour (win).

Ribblehead

Don’t settle for second best! ;-)
